Fuoco, the chilli oil that’s spicing up Sydney’s culinary scene, took over the iconic Café Freda’s kitchen for a sold-out, one-night-only event—and, trust us, it was the hottest ticket in town.

The anticipation was already bubbling long before the event, and when the day came, not a single seat was left empty. The pop-up dinner featured a bespoke menu that masterfully combined Asian and Italian influences, just like Fuoco’s signature bold flavours. From start to finish, this was a night of culinary fireworks.

The collaboration between Fuoco and Café Freda’s was a natural one. Café Freda’s, known for its eclectic vibe and flair for community-focused events, provided the perfect stage for Fuoco’s fiery debut. The chef team, small in number but very talented, delivered a seamless service, making the night feel effortless and electric all at once.

As for the food, the menu was a delicious fusion of comfort and creativity. Diners indulged in rich beef ragu lasagne that had all the heartiness of Nonna’s cooking but with a cheeky kick of heat. The mushroom dumplings were a delicate, umami-packed bite, perfectly complemented by Fuoco’s fiery touch. And who could resist prawn toast reimagined with a crisp, spicy flair that left everyone craving more?

For the more adventurous, the burrata with chilli oil was a standout—creamy, indulgent, and brought to life by Fuoco’s signature spice. Dessert was equally bold, with a chilli chocolate cake that danced the line between sweet and spicy, rounding off the evening on a decadent, fiery note.

Of course, no fiery feast would be complete without a matching cocktail. The Fuoco-inspired concoction packed as much punch as the dishes—spicy, surprising, and exactly what you didn’t know you needed in a glass. It’s safe to say that by the end of the night, Fuoco wasn’t just an oil—it was an experience.

For those lucky enough to attend, this evening was a reminder that Sydney’s food scene is alive, well, and full of surprises. And for Fuoco, this is just the beginning.
